That Grisly Animated Film Ending That Haunts Audiences

Out of every adult-oriented animated films I’ve ever watched, no other has lingered in my mind as much as the dread-soaked ending of a viscerally violent as well as highly provocative 2022 movie Unicorn Wars.

Back in the year 2015, the Spain-based writer-director developed a grim, bleak and often savage universe that included several minor , desolate hints of optimism.

Although The Unicorn Wars seems like it stemmed from an impulse to push the medium further, the filmmaker stated that it was actually an effort to express a widespread, cross-cultural message about “the common origin of each battle.”

That message is conveyed by means of a squad of brightly hued teddy bears , clearly modeled after a popular line of lovable figures.

Being raised in a community focused on aggression as well as the war machine, many of the bears are consumed by exterminating the mythical beasts, due to a religious scripture that tells the bears they used to be kings of the forest, until the unicorns forced them out.

A few did not entirely accepted the propaganda, and prefer to experiment with drugs and mate in the forest.

Unlike their cuddly counterparts, these bright beings show genitals , obvious sex drives.

For a certain notably brutal, skeptical animal, the bear named Bluey, the conflict against the unicorns turns into a path to control — and especially to dominance above his softer, kinder brother the character Tubby.

This bear acts as a tormentor and a seeming sociopath , and when fear takes over his unit and takes his fellow soldiers individually, he takes more and more control personally, through ever more gory, damaging approaches.

At the same time, the unicorns are enduring their own terror, as an expanding, harmful creature in their woods.

“Initially, it appears as a comedy,” the filmmaker stated. “However it becomes a more dramatic and sad film. And in the finale, it becomes a terrifying movie.”

Unicorn Wars starts out resembling among the quirky features from a renowned animator, which find a naughty glee in permitting drawn beings swear, fire weapons, or sex each other up.

Afterward it becomes closer to a more grim film from the same creator, with increasingly graphic violence and a palpable relation to the real suffering of battle.

Ultimately, it is an outright theatrical horror massacre.

The horror that makes this a perfect Halloween movie begins well before than one might expect.

Unicorn Wars is suited for the most dedicated gorehounds, for fans of intense movies who want to watch a film they haven’t ever viewed until now, and who can handle a story which delivers no restraint.

View it in a dark room free from interruptions, and the finale will burrow under your skin and linger.
