Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.

It said debris landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
