One senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.” Scope of the Investigation The charges come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley. Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January. Breakdown of Offences The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences include: 15 counts of assault. Seventeen counts of penetrative assault. Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen. Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen. 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration. Police have asked anyone with concerns to contact the investigating team.
